Quartermast H1 2026 Creator Economy M&A Report
The Digital Dealflow
Good Morning,
Epidemic Group, the parent of creator-music giant Epidemic Sound, acquired Blenda Labs, a Stockholm-based studio that pairs AI-native workflows with human creative direction for rights-sensitive IP owners; Blenda keeps its team and runs autonomously inside the group, pushing Epidemic past music into end-to-end video.
The deal lands in a record year. Our H1 2026 Creator Economy M&A Report counted 70 transactions in the first half, up 23% year over year and on pace to clear 100 by December, with media (27%), software (24%), agencies (21%), and talent management (14%) drawing the most buyers and most companies trading at 5x to 9x EBITDA.
The agencies kept consolidating. Moburst acquired Amazon marketing shop Hyperzon. Hollywood, meanwhile, kept mining creator IP: Amazon is adapting the YouTube horror series The Mandela Catalogue with Steven Spielberg and Scott Stuber attached.
The bigger checks came from the edges of the market. Versant, the freshly spun-out Comcast cable company, agreed to buy sports-simulation maker Full Swing from Bruin Capital for roughly $530M, and NielsenIQ closed its purchase of Flywheel's China and Southeast Asia e-commerce data business, which will run in China under the YiMian brand.
Elsewhere, Bending Spoons- the holding company that still owns AOL, Vimeo, and WeTransfer- made its US market debut this week at a $25.7B valuation. Somewhere a 1999 dial-up investor is asking for a mulligan.
